What time is the NFL Draft?   On 8pm EST  Thursday 24th of April all us fans that didn’t celebrate a Super Bowl victory are hungry to load up our roster rifles with fresh bold ammo and get back into the fight.   I’m not afraid to admit that around this time of year; I get lost in the mania of sports talk media.  Everyone is an expert in this and a critic in that and the soup continues to stir.  Green Bay Packers is my club and they own the 23rd pick and here are my hopefuls for what I would consider if my name were Brian Gutekunst.

  1. Luther Burden lll   –  What team doesn’t want a receiver?  Burdenlll is 6′ 205lbs  WR from Missouri.  This guy looks solid.  There is no Randy Moss destined to walk the hall of fame WR in this draft, however the player that looks to be seasoned veteran already is Luther Burden lll.  He can attack at all 3 levels and I have the feeling he can develop into a gadget type player eventually.  Many will argue this pick but a very big concern is the difficulties of the weather conditions in the midwest.  I think he can handle it and still put up great numbers.
  2. Emeka Egbuka  –   Not to type cast but; if i told you we got a 6’1” 205 lb WR from Ohio State, your head might channel thoughts of Joey Galloway, Marvin Harrison, and Ted Ginn Jr.   Emeka Egbuka is coming from a place where big time football players flock to.   The plus is he comes from the culture of a locker room and team chemistry that just won the BCS Championship and that will translate perfect when the GREEN and GOLD win it all this year.   POSITIVE ENERGY BRINGS POSITIVE EXECUTION
  3. Will Johnson –  All this talk on Offensive weapons and no love for my favorite Green Gang Stompers.  Could definitely use support on the outskirts.  Will Johnson is a 6’2” 205lb  CB from Michigan.   Detroit, MI that is, this guy will step into the Packer Green as comfortably as an old catchers mit.  Toughness shouldn’t be a concern for anyone that plays for the fearsome Wolverines.
  4. Maxwell Hairston –  Always have a plan B, that’s why I’ve always got strawberry jam sitting right behind the grape.  This Kentucky Wildcat comes in at 6’1” and 186lbs.  This is lighter than the average and gives options to his development.  Maxwell Hairston is a 1st Round talent and I expect he will be a key piece to leveling up the Packers’ defensive core.
  5. Travis Hunter – It was only expected that a guy who checks the box on wide receiver and corner back would get my attention.  It’s a long stretch to ask Gutekunst to get this guy.  Travis Hunter does not need to be introduced.  I’ll say that he is special and if he wore a Green Bay shirt come season opener I would be the happiest of fans.
